thisfamiliarsmile are a four-piece band from Glasgow playing rock music full of irregular timings, complex structures and yet managing to keep their music cohesive and melodic. With influences stemming from The Cure right through to At The Drive In, thisfamiliarsmile have a healthy mix of influences that are evident from the first listen. The band’s debut release was through the highly respected Fierce Panda Records and this gave them a chance to broaden their horizons and ultimately led to an appearance at T in The Park in Glasgow. The response was overwhelming!

When their first self-released EP sold out in just a few weeks they moved swiftly on to record for Lockjaw Records.

'What Kind Of Monster Am I?' was recorded at The Waiting Room Studios by Producer Jim Turner (Tribute To Nothing) and fully exploits their talents. The EP has received critical acclaim from Rock Sound (UK) who said the band offered "emo diversity rather than conformity" 6/10 and Organart Online who likened them to the earlier Deep Elm bands.

thisfamiliarsmile will be supporting Tribute To Nothing on tour in Europe during autumn 2007.
