Waterweed

Melodic Hardcore Osaka, Japan Est. 2004

Waterweed are a blisteringly good melodic hardcore act from Osaka, Japan, who started out as a purely skate-punk band, but have since grown more progressively, introducing a range of genres into their latest recordings.

Lockjaw Records were extremely excited to bring Waterweed’s full-length album Brightest to the UK and Europe in 2018, and even more excited to see the reaction of the crowds on the accompanying Waterweed tour, including a raucous set at Manchester Punk Festival. Brightest is a brilliant piece of melodic hardcore with powerful vocal hooks mixed with raw passion, which is magnified in Waterweed’s awesome live performances.

Formed in Osaka 2003, Waterweed have been at the forefront of the Japanese post-hardcore and screamo movement since the beginning of the scene. The band have since released 2 albums and two 2 EPs and toured all over Japan and the far east, including festivals like Rock-O-Rama.
