Top fives of 2021

The Gooch is coming, so it's time to make some lists. We made our Top 5's of 2021. What's your Top 5?

Rob

Tricky one but here is a a fairly varied selection, no mention of Lockjaw Releases intentionally ;)

• • Thrice - Horizons/East

These aren't in order but this has to be my top. Thrice struggle to do wrong, love the production and musical ideas. Constantly on in the car.

• • Sleep Token - This Place will become your Tomb

Bit of a curve ball as I didnt really get it but then caught them live this year and it was mesmerising, basically pop and production is crisp.

• • The JB Conspiracy - Beginnings

I've played shows with JB or premutations of the band for 20 years and this album is a great mix of nostalgia and some fresh vibes and great songs, the single Guiding Lights is next level.

• • Kali Masi - [Laugh]

A brilliant Pop punk album mixed by the bassist from Such Gold apparently. Saw them play New Cross the other week and the tunes live where even better.

• Knocked Loose - A Tear In the Fabric Of Life

Satisfyingly brutal in every way.

Lesley

This year's been heavy, and so has my playlist (kinda)!

• Turnstile - GLOW ON
• Quicksand - Distant Populations
• Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
• SpiritBox - Eternal Blue
• AFI - Bodies

Honourable mentions go out to Delaire The Liar, Architects, Gojira, Every Time I Die, Amyl & The Sniffers, Thrice, Bloodmoon, The Bronx and of course all of the Lockjaw releases!

Cedric

No specific order for this list - They're all #1 for me.

• Mark Letierri - Deep The baritone Sessions Volume 2
• Turnstile - Glow on
• Mart Hoogkamer - Ik ga zwemmen
• Fearless Flyers - Live at Madison Square Garden
• Don Kapot - Hooligan
