New Lungs
A sophomore album soaked in heartbreak, self-doubt, and the slow crawl toward healing.
New wounds. New regrets. New Lungs.
Burnt Tapes return with New Lungs, a sophomore album soaked in heartbreak, self-doubt, and the slow crawl toward healing. Drawing from the grit of gruff punk and the atmosphere of alt-rock, New Lungs is a raw, melodic gut-punch — louder, darker, and deeper than anything the band have done before.
"This album nearly killed us to make," the band admits, "but it feels like the closure we needed. It's us working through everything — the burnout, the self-doubt, the weight of the last few years."
London's melodic punk outfit Burnt Tapes have released their most powerful and emotionally charged record to date: New Lungs. Out now via Lockjaw Records, the album is a cathartic journey through mental health struggles, lost connections, and the desperate hope for renewal.
Produced by Daly George (Creeper, Milk Teeth), New Lungs was recorded in two parts — split between the rustic isolation of an old stable-turned-studio in Aldershot and the famed Ranch Studios in Southampton.
Sonically, New Lungs builds on the grit and heart of 2019's Never Better, but cranks up the intensity. Think big, anthemic singalongs, driving guitars, and a heavier edge — without losing the melodic honesty fans have come to love.
With standout tracks like MOTHERSGUILT, New Lungs, You Only YOLO Once, and Graveyards, the album delivers both punch and poignancy — perfect for fans of Hot Mulligan, The Menzingers, and Heart Attack Man.

About Burnt Tapes
The Burnt Tapes career is a testament to perseverance and dedication. Since the early days as teenagers jamming in the basements of Athens, Greece, the Burnt Tapes have shown their strength as rough-and-tumble storytellers, turning out songs equally rooted in frenetic energy and lifelike details of sadness, regret, nostalgia and mental health.
Now London-based, the band's own brand of regret punk merges big anthemic hooks with empowering guitar lines and throat-ripping vocals, bringing comparisons that range from Basement to The Menzingers.
Over the last few years the Burnt Tapes have logged countless miles on the roads of the UK, US, Europe and Japan, playing over 200 shows across 20 countries. They have shared stages with Spanish Love Songs, Flatliners, Red City Radio, MakeWar and The Menzingers, with appearances at Manchester Punk Festival, Rebellion Fest and Booze Cruise.
In 2017 they released their debut EP, Alterations. This was followed by their debut LP Never Better in 2019 on Lockjaw Records, the Grower EP, and now New Lungs.
