The album expands upon the ideas introduced in Rebuke’s 2016 Time Travels demo EP. With its central conceit of alternate timelines and commercialised time travel, ‘Things One Shouldn’t Have to Say’ is both a biting commentary on the present and an imaginative reflection on what could have been. Frontman Petter Mossberg elaborates:
“Things just didn’t turn out the way they should have. There’s a persistent anxiety that everything should be better than it is. Through this album, we wanted to channel that frustration into something cohesive, thought-provoking, and above all, true to the Rebuke sound.”
Crafted over nearly five years, the album combines blistering instrumentals with a meticulous narrative structure. Rebuke approached the writing process with a “more is more” mindset, creating songs that are dense with ideas, yet tightly edited to avoid repetition—the result? 18 tracks of relentless energy, introspection, and social critique.

Rebuke started out in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2003 and after a few smaller DIY releases, unleashed their now seminal album ‘Wouldworks’ through Disconnect Disconnect Records / Kickass Records just over a decade ago. Since then, the band have gone from strength to strength with a number of further releases along with a significant amount of touring in both Europe and Japan, including slots on Punk Rock Holiday, Manchester Punk Fest and Sbäm Fest, sharing the stage with bands like Strung Out, NOFX and Lagwagon.
Taking influence from the SoCal punk scene, Rebuke challenges their influences by interjecting metal elements into their fast-paced punk.
Singing about a mix of political or personal issues, they keep their lyrical subject matter smart enough to get you thinking, yet catchy enough to sing along to.
