Steve's mixtape

1. You are the government - Bad Religion
By 1992, I was already well into No Control at this point but then started to go backwards to Suffer. As soon as the first track kicked in, I was hooked.  Sonically it just sounded different, it was special.  I immediately went to the dictionary and tried to figure out what he was talking about. haha.
2. Malachi Crunch - Nofx
Ribbed was a favorite of mine due to the more metal sounding guitars and well...Nofx got a lot better on this album.  The last song on the record spoke to me lyrically and musically.  This album is still my favorite Nofx record.
3. Know it all - Lagwagon
Some of the best lyrics on this record.  Killer musicianship. I still love singing along.
4. The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding
This is my chill song since I was a kid.  I stop what I'm doing every time this gets played.
5. Pessimistic lines - Bad Religion
Last song on my favorite BR record- Suffer. One of the first "punk" songs I learned on guitar. I still love the guitar progression and the hanging tension after each section.  Chills.
6. Anti-manifesto - Propagandhi
Wow first song I heard on this record.  They pulled no punches and it was fucking angry and wonderfully sarcastic. I learned a lot from this record.
7. We're back we're pissed - RKL
If there was one band, one album and one song that set the path for Belvedere - this was it.
8. A better place - SNFU
I always loved SNFU but when "The One Voted Most Likely To Succeed" came out in 1995, it just set itself apart from other SNFU albums and really most bigger bands in the genre.  The recording was unique - i loved the loud ride cymbal in the mix and sonically it was special.  the lyrics were a trip to read and try to figure out.
9. Gravity - John Mayer
Another chill song. This song takes me back to working in a coffee shop 13 years ago.
10. Photograph - Def Leppard
No explanation needed. This song still rips.
